Sending SGD to Gemini via Xfers

This post will guide you on using Xfers to send SGD to Gemini

Do note that there is a maximum of 20,000 SGD per transaction Link

1. Preparation

Your mobile phone
ID documents if you do not already have a Xfers or Gemini account

2. Creating your Xfers account

Head over to https://www.xfers.com/sg and sign up for an Xfers account if you do not already have one. Else login to your Xfers account.

You may skip this step if you already have an Xfers account.

Important: The phone number used for Xfers will be used to link all Xfers services for deposits.

Note: You would have to go through identity verification before you will be able to use the platform.
Do follow the steps and provide the required documents

Mouse over your name on the top right and click manage account, or simply use this link https://straitsx.xfers.com/manage_account

Click Add New and enter your bank account details. Your bank account will be verified once a deposit is made with it.

3. (OPTIONAL) Depositing funds into Xfers

This step is optional, you do not need to perform this step for depositing into Gemini

Head to the main page by clicking Dashboard or the Xfers icon and under Digital Goods Wallet click Deposit

Select Digital Goods Wallet and select your desired bank account.

Enter the desired deposit amount. You may want to start with a small amount to test the whole flow. Click Next once you’re done.

Check the details in the popup and click Proceed

You will be taken to a page similar to the above picture with deposit instructions. Follow the instructions and make a bank transfer to the recepient bank.

Note that the information on your page will differ from mine.

4. Setting up Gemini for deposit via Xfers

Sign up for a gemini account at https://exchange.gemini.com/register if you don’t already have one. Login and complete identity verification.

Once inside Gemini click Transfer on the top right corner and Deposit into Gemini

Do note that there is a maximum of 20,000 SGD per transaction Link

Select SGD and click Continue. You will then be prompted to add your bank account. Follow that link and under Manually Link click Get Started.

Select SGD and click Next.

You will be prompted to enter your phone number. Enter the same phone number as the one used for Xfers

Click Next and an OTP will be sent to you via SMS. Enter that OTP to finish linking your account.

Confirm linking your Xfers bank account and click Make a Deposit

Select SGD as currency, FAST Transfer as method and your Xfers linked bank account as the Transfer From

Enter the desired transfer amount and click Continue to view your transfer instructions

5. Making the transfer

As of 4th May 2021 Gemini offers direct transfers without the need of a memo. Make the FAST transfer direct to the indicated account

IMPORTANT

READ the deposit instructions carefully
~~You will need to include a memo in your fast transfer~~
The bank account number is DIFFERENT from your xfers digital wallet

Follow the instructions and make a direct FAST transfer to Gemini with the indicated SGD amount.

~~You will have to contact Xfers and go through a lenghty retreival process if you do not include the memo.~~

6. Conclusion

You have successfully deposited SGD into Gemini. The funds should be sighted within 15 minutes.

You can then use your deposited SGD to purchase BTC or ETH on the Gemini platform.

7. Optional

Gemini offers an ActiveTrader option with lower trading fees. You can enable it in the account settings page https://exchange.gemini.com/settings/profile

The process took a few days when I activated ActiveTrader on my account, but YMMV.

This typically resolves within the hour. You may contact Xfers if you face any issues.
